My first keyboard overlay was made of wood. It was rough (because I am no carpenter), and there were no hexagonal tops to the keys because they were already too heavy for the underlying piano keyboard without them.

The first 3D-Printed Design used rectangular keys:

The almost-square shapes of the keys were not optimal, unfortunately! They required you to curl your fingers under your palm in order to finger some chords:

Some intermediate designs were tested to fix this fingering issue:

The official "Version 2" release ended up with tall, thin, hexagonal keys, which fixed the fingering issues by making each key available across a large vertical distance. It also introduced the new coloring system:
